JUNK NAILS: Assemblage as Adornment
with Rachel Eckenrode (MADNails & Lab + Lounge, New Orleans)
Thursday, May 28 | 6–8 PM
Join us for a hands-on workshop with New Orleans-based nail artist Rachel Eckenrode (@nail.fool). In this session, participants will design and create their own one-of-a-kind press-on nail keychain, exploring nail art as both craft and material practice.
The workshop will introduce foundational painting techniques, layering methods, and 3D embellishment. Rachel will guide you through her approach to working with gel as a medium—treating the nail as a surface for composition, color, and form.
Participants will then translate these techniques into an object, building a custom keychain centered around their own nail designs. Beads from the Lagniappe Bead Shop will be available to incorporate into your piece. (Please note: the image shown focuses on the nail component; additional elements will be included during the workshop.)
No prior experience is needed. All materials are provided.
Leave with a unique object that sits somewhere between accessory, sculpture, and personal artifact.
