SHED Projects is a non-profit organization that works to practice and nurture investigative activity at the intersection of art, family life, and contemporary urban habitation. We produce exhibitions, printed matter, and opportunities for experimentation and knowledge-building around visual culture and dimensions of human feeling and lived experience.

Located in the Brooklyn Centre neighborhood, our base of operations is a designated historic landmark built in 1857 as part of the early settlement of what is now the city of Cleveland. Positioned at the heart of the city and the Great Lakes region, SHED inhabits this space to enact radical engagement with the heritage and feeling of place through contemporary art and thought. Valuing these forms of work for their capacity to build empathy and connectivity between peoples and to make palpable the realm of ideas.

SHED Projects began in the backyard of Gabrielle Banzhaf and Jon Gott’s family home in 2021 in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana.
