Join us in making a broom! This workshop is designed to give a basic introduction to broommaking. Participants will leave with a fully finished hand broom and an understanding of the basic tools and techniques used in broommaking. These tools and techniques can be applied to various types of brooms, which we will briefly talk about in the class. This workshop will take approximately 2 hours.
During this workshop, you will learn the basics of:
What is Broomcorn?
Broom history and terminology
Hand broom construction
Some basic decorative elements of hand brooms
Broom trimming and final details
Participants should be aware that hand brooms require sustained hand and foot dexterity.
You will leave with a broom and a packet with all the info you learned in class. Extra material will be available for purchase if you wish to make more brooms in the class or at home.
